THE INTERVENTION
MODEL
IS BASED
ON THREE PILLARSDistributing Nutrition
To overcome malnutrition we have created
a specialized food based on peanuts, eggs, milk
Quaker Oats and minerals which will be distributed free
of charge to girls and boys from 2 to under 5 years with
mild, acute or chronic malnutrition. This specialized food
will be delivered on a monthly basis and must be consumed
daily for 12 months.CLINICAL STUDY
To verify the effectiveness of the cookie, a clinical study was carried out in children aged 2 to 5 years from rural communities of Oaxaca and Chiapas, Mexico. The study was divided into two parts:
1. Prevent moderate acute malnutrition in children at risk of malnutrition 2. Correct moderate acute malnutrition. The intervention consisted of providing a portion of the specialized Quaker Qrece® food for each day of the week for 12 months, in addition to a hygiene and nutrition education program for parents or guardians.
RESULTS
It was clinically demonstrated that the consumption of the specialized food Quaker Qrece® in conjunction with the educational program can prevent and improve nutritional status in preschool-age children
82% OF THE CHILDREN who entered the prevention study regained their normal weight one year after the intervention.56% EFFECTIVENESS has the consumption of specialized food * than only education in hygiene and nutrition.44% OF THE CHLDREN with moderate malnutrition recovered until they reached the appropriate weight for their height with moderate malnutrition recovered until they reached the appropriate weight for their height9 OF EACH 10 CHILDREN with moderate malnutrition they managed to get out of this type of malnutrition.** When more than 60% of the consumption recommendation is met: 1 packet per day / 7 days.
This intervention model has been clinically tested and has obtained very good results.
